Jo Mills – Weaver of Tales

Beyond the woods, beyond the lakes, beyond the mountains high…

Jo is a storyteller based in rural north Cumbria on the Anglo/Scottish border. She has been telling stories for over 10 years at heritage sites, museum, schools and for special interest groups. She also regularly runs popular story walks in Carlisle.

Jo’s storytelling is steeped in the rich history of the British Isles and she has a passion for telling the legends of ancient Britain. Her engaging style is rooted in the landscape and imbued with a strong sense of place and time. Jo’s storytelling has been described as “heartfelt, amusing & compelling.”

While living and working in Tasmania, Jo also developed a fascination with the stories from the Australian transportation system and of the working classes in 18 – 19thCentury Britain. She is currently developing a longer piece based on these inspiring stories of hardship, loss, courage & triumph.

People think that stories are shaped by people. In fact it’s the other way round.
